HOW TO BECOME A CHRISTIAN

Heb 9:27  And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

Heb 9:28  So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

The Bible says there are four things a person must know to go to heaven.

1. Rom 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

2.   Rom 6:23a  For the wages of sin is death;

3.   Rom 6:23b …but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

4.   Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

The Bible explains our salvation transaction.

Rom 10:8  But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Rom 10:9  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Rom 10:10  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Rom 10:11  For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Rom 10:12  For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Rom 10:13  For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

The Bible gives assurance of eternal life.

1 John 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

1 John 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

1 John 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

After salvation what’s next?

Regularly attend a Bible believing Church and request baptism, which is an act of obedience as a new follower of Jesus Christ.

The record of Jesus baptism defines the purpose.

Mat 3:13  Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

Mat 3:14  But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

Mat 3:15  And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Mat 3:16  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Mat 3:17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Jesus said this was an act of obedience for all who seek to fulfill all righteousness. It was so important to Him that he walked approximately 62 miles to be baptized of John the Baptist. From Galilee to near Jericho on the River Jordan.  This has been the normal practice of all new believers beginning in first century and until our present time.

Acts 2:41  Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:

Some glad morning when this life is o'er,/ I'll fly away./ To a home on God's celestial shore,/ I'll fly away./ I'll fly away, O Glory,/ I'll fly away./ When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,/ I'll fly away.// When the shadows of this life have flown,/ I'll fly away./ Like a bird thrown, driven by the storm,/ I'll fly away.// I'll fly away, O Glory,/ I'll fly away./ When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,/I'll fly away.// Just a few more weary days and then,/ I'll fly away./ To a land where joy shall never end,/I'll fly away.// I'll fly away, O Glory,/ I'll fly away./ When I die, Hallelujah, bye and bye,/I'll fly away.
